BREATHING TECHNIQUES FOR PREGNANCY & BIRTH

Redmond, WA & Virtual
October 8th 12-1:45 pm PDT

How you breathe is intimately connected to the health of your pelvic floor, core and nervous system. This makes your breath one of the most important tools for pregnancy and birth. However, many of the common prenatal breathing exercises don't teach proper breathing technique using the diaphragm, which can leave you vulnerable to pelvic floor injury or abdominal wall separation.

In this workshop, you will learn physiologic-based breathing practices to help you connect your breath with your diaphragm and pelvic floor, and improve your nervous system balance. You will also experience a relaxing 30-minute guided breathwork journey to reset your nervous system, and build a collection of ancient breathwork techniques you can continue to use in your pregnancy and birth to induce relaxation and support a calm birth experience.

By the end of the workshop, you will:

  • Understand the connection between your diaphragm and pelvic floor

  • Know how to engage your diaphragm properly to optimize your breath and limit pelvic floor dysfunction and abdominal separation

  • Feel confident using your breath to induce calm during pregnancy and birth

  • Free Bonus: Stillpoint Prenatal Breathwork video & audio track to continue your practice at home

COUPLES WORKSHOP FOR PREGNANCY & BIRTH

Redmond, WA & Virtual

May 5th 1:30-4:30 pm PDT

There are two kinds of birth partners, those who step up to their potential, and those who show up only to get pushed to the periphery. While many birth classes offer comfort techniques and tools for birth partners, few teach how to use those tools under the pressure of labor. This is like expecting a child who just learned their alphabet to also be able to read.

Learning how to support birth requires more than a list of tools, like learning to read takes more than a list of alphabet letters. It takes knowledge of a few key aspects of the birth process and understanding the dynamics of the birth room to step up into the role of a capable birth partner. With that knowledge, applying the tools comes naturally. That's what you will learn in this couples workshop!

By the end of this workshop, you and your partner will:

  • Have tools to improve your communication with each other and your birth team so your voice is heard in the birth room.

  • Know key points of the physiologic birth process so you use the right physical and emotional support at the right time to improve the experience of labor

  • Be prepared with the exact questions you need to ask your birth team so you know which labor positions to use for a more efficient and easy labor

  • Know how to facilitate changes in your birth plan so your partner can be your advocate while you stay focused on your labor and your baby

  • Free Bonus for this session: Foundational Awareness Practice audio tracks for your partner to continue to practice at home

YOGA & MORE FOR A FUNCTIONAL PELVIC FLOOR PRENATAL WORKSHOP

Redmond, WA & Virtual

April 7th, 2024 2-4 pm PDT

What does it mean to have a "functional" pelvic floor?

Today we know that Kegels are not the best way to support a healthy pelvic floor in pregnancy. The real key to a healthy pelvic floor is a functional system that can both relax and maintain tone when needed.

It's time to leave boring Kegels in the past and learn simple and fun practices that can help you achieve the dynamic response of relax and tone to improve the holistic function of your pelvic floor.

Improving function in your pelvic floor before birth may help:

  • Reduce postpartum pelvic floor dysfunction

  • Reduce the risk of tearing in birth

  • Shorten the duration of labor

  • Improve your confidence in your connection with your body

How can Prenatal Yoga & Breathwork help a functional pelvic floor?

Through Yoga, you can connect to your physical body through movement and breath, and get curious about how your body works and how you can optimize your movement to support pelvic floor function.

Breath is one of the best methods to engage your nervous system to relax and calm your mind and body and is also important for a healthy core and pelvic floor as the primary system to manage the intra-abdominal pressure of a growing baby.

By the end of this workshop, you will have tools to assess your pelvic alignment, movement to support healthy pelvic floor balance, and a deeper connection to your breath to support a functional and responsive pelvic floor for pregnancy and birth.
